MASONIC CARE COMMUNITYUTICA, NEW YORK
DeWolff Partnership Architects has designed a new addition and renovation project for The Masonic Medical Research Laboratory located in Utica, New York on the campus of the prestigious Masonic Home facility. The $1.7 million addition and renovation project was fast tracked in order to house rapid advances in research being conducted by the Laboratory.
The 6,500 square foot project addition includes two state of the art research laboratories, two conference centers, a new two-story entrance and reception lobby, a post doctoral office, and a relocated high-tech reference library. Renovations include laboratory space, connections to the existing building, and utility services.
Solar orientation, high tech sun screening devices, heat recovery, and sophisticated environmental controls are all essential elements of the glass-enclosed facility. The crystalline addition is seen as the heart of the dynamic facility that focuses on cutting edge research. Work at the lab includes molecular genetics surrounding the Brugada syndrome, a critical link to sudden infant death syndrome. The addition is part of a multi phase expansion for the growing facility that is envisioned to be a regional center for significant research.
