The innovative 17,000 sq. ft. addition to the Perinton Community Center enables the center to expand its present programs. The addition allows water activities year round with the construction of 3,500 square foot leisure and a 3,200 square foot instructional pool.
The leisure pool allows for family activity and recreation. The main feature of the pool is the water slide, which has a platform of 20 feet above the pool deck. The pool includes a zero water depth entry much like a beach. And also a current channel, and adjacent whirlpool. Activities within the pool area address all age groups; the entire family can take part together. The zero beach area where water depth is shallow will include bubblers, a frog slide and the gismos and gadgets for toddler activity. The current channel allows inner tubing for adolescents in the simulated current or exercise for the seniors walking against the flow of the water jets. The leisure pool and the water slide is open to all appropriate users.
Outside the pool area, the addition/expansion has expanded other community center program spaces, including the locker area serving the community center, the aerobic fitness area for cardio vascular activities, the patio area adjacent to the seniors, an overlook into the pool activity, and the main lobby for casual lounging.
